Microsoft word problem, possibly simple?

i was working on microsoft word and an error message came up saying it had to close. when i went to open it again all i can find was wrl[number].tmp and when i went to open it it says the file is missing and cannot be opened, i would assume that the file has been corrupted but in the past my friend has managed to find a way of opening it. any help?

Well the wrl(number).temp file is the back-up file word create, so you can recover a document when word crashed.

You must have another file though started with ~$ marks (these two symbols replace the first two characters of the name of word document you edit) so if for example the document you edit had the name mydoc.doc then you must have a file like ~$doc.doc, in the same folder where the old document stored.

Open word and from file menu choose open ,then browse to this file or to the wrl(number).temp and try to open them.

If not a file with ~$ on it then probably the file got corrupted and the restored file deleted too.

Best of Luck
