Is there a program like Microsoft Word that I can download?

My computer, oddly enough, didn't come with Microsoft Word, even though it's a Microsoft product... And I need to type reports and whatnot that have to be formatted with a program like Microsoft Word. Wordpad and Notepad don't work. Any suggestions?

IMHO, the standard edition of Microsoft Word is pricey.

However, since you're a student, consider purchasing the student version at a greatly reduced price. I strongly suggest this as it is the standard for school and business.

You can try openoffice, does not have quite as many features as MS word but it's probably good enough for school work and it's free.

OpenOffice.org does a ridiculously good job imitating the world's most popular set of office tools. It is free to download. I think you can download it at download.com or even the openoffice.org site. It has tools similiar to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. When you save items, remember to save the file as a Microsoft Word file, Exel, or Powerpoint, depending on what kind of file you are making.
