Database objects are persistent objects. This means that these are objects that survive after computer termination, as they are stored on the hard drive of a computer.

In database management systems, such as MS Access, a table corresponds to a class. For instance we have a class ''client'' and a class ''worker''. A class refers to a type of objects. There can be several objects of this class. Each class has attributes; these are the fields (columns). A worker has a name, surname, age, etc.

The rows, also called records, are instances of the class. They are real-time existing objects. So, a class ''worker'' with attributes name, age, etc. can have instances, such as ''Piet, 16, etc.''. Piet is an existing object of the class worker.
