I need to merge 23 documents together into one Microsoft Word document that will have a table of contents and will overrule the page numbers on the other documents. Is it possible to do this? Thanks in advance!

Microsoft Word - Can I merge 23 documents into one that will have a table of contents and create page numbers?software

This is indeed possible :)

Open the first document (which will represent the first page(s) of the new consolidated document. This first doc is known as the Master document by the way.

Click VIEW then OUTLINE. A new toolbar will appear.

At the bottom of the first document (new page if you like), click the 4th last icon (i think) - it says "Insert subdocument". and repeat this until you have inserted all the other documents. Don't worry about all the symbols and lines and border that will appear - it won't print.

Now go through your NEW very LONG document :) and make sure that the headings you want to appear in the table of content do in fact have a Heading 1 or Heading 2 style. Create the page numbering in the master document. If the sub documents do not show the header or footer or page numbers of the master documents, edit the header or footer of the sub document and click the "Link to previous" icon so that the sub document take son the setting from the master document.
